Security forces tried to disperse families of the 16 political prisoners on hunger strike at Evin prison who had gathered outside the Prosecutor’s Office this morning, July 31st, 2010. According to RAHANA, the families of Hossein Nourani Nejad, Bahman Ahmadi Amoui, Ali Tajernia, Ali Parviz, Massoud Bastani and approximately 60 other individuals were amongst those present. Having been dispersed from in front of the Prosecutor’s Office by security forces, 30 family members of political prisoners continued their protest and gathered in front of the Office of the Minister of Justice.
After protesting against offensive behavior by prison guards and officials and complaining about restrictions regarding their visitation rights, 16 political prisoners at Evin’s ward 350 were transferred to solitary confinement, triggering a hunger strike.
Majid Dari, Majid Tavakoli, Adollah Momeni, Zia (Zieddin) Nabavi, Nader (Ebranim) Babai, Hamid Reza Mohammadi, Peyman Karimi Azad, Babak Bordbar, Jaafar Eghdami, Ali Parviz, Gholam Hossein Arshi, Hossein Nouraninejad and Koohyar Goudarzi, are all currently on hunger strike at Evin prison.
