 Spousal abuse on the rise in Iran

The head of the Socially Harmed Affairs Office of the Welfare Organization said that from the 215,000 calls to the social emergency line, the highest figures were for spousal abuse with 8,000 calls and child abuse with 7,000 calls. The most important and prevalent kinds of spousal abuse carried out by men against women are physical violence such as damaging home appliances and beating the woman, psychological and verbal violence such as insulting the women’s personality, appearance or physical condition, expressing hate towards her family and also social violence such as banning her from work or education, banning her from communicating with her family even through telephone calls, financial violence like depriving her of allowance or money and finally sexual harassment and abuse by use of force and subjecting her to prostitution [to get money for drugs].   Iranian women banned from labor market

A social expert and Tehran University professor, Dr. Mohammad Hossein Farjad, cited the increase of the unemployment rate among Iranian women in an interview with ILNA [state-run news agency] and said, “Despite the fact that the level of Iranian women’s education has remarkably increased in comparison to past years, currently we see that the state of Iran’s labor market is not appropriate for women as compared to men”. “Currently the economic and social growth is one of the main elements behind women’s presence in social activities” he said adding that 50 percent of the global work force were women. خشونت عليه زنان

همسر آزاري از کودک آزاري هم بيشتر شده است
خبرآنلاين: مديرکل دفتر امور آسيب‌ديدگان اجتماعي سازمان بهزيستي، مي گويد 215 هزار تماس با خط اورژانس اجتماعي انجام شده است،‌ که از اين ميان همسر آزاري با 8 هزار مورد و کودک‌آزاري با 7 هزار مورد بيشترين آمار را داشته اند.
خشونت فيزيکي و بدني، مانند صدمه زدن به وسايل منزل و ضرب و شتم همسر، خشونت رواني و کلا‌مي‌مانند تحقير شخصيت، چهره و يا شرايط جسماني زن، ابراز تنفر نسبت به بستگان وي و همچنين خشونت اجتماعي شامل منع اشتغال و تحصيل، ممنوعيت ارتباط با بستگان حتي به صورت تلفني، خشونت اقتصادي مانند نپرداختن خرجي و در نهايت صدمات و آزارهاي جنسي از طريق تحميل نسبت به همسر و در معرض فحشا و فساد قرار دادن وي به خاطر اعتياد، مهمترين و شايع‌ترين انواع همسر آزاري مردان نسبت به زنان است. عرصه بازار کار ايران براي زنان تنگ شده است
ايلنا: دکتر محمد حسين فرجاد گفت: به دليل نگرش دولت نسبت به ورود زنان به بازار کار در حال حاضر عرصه بازار کار براي زنان ايراني تنگ شده است.
اين آسيب شناس اجتماعي و استاد دانشگاه تهران در گفت‌وگو با خبرنگار ايلنا ضمن اشاره به افزايش نرخ بيکاري در بين زنان ايراني ياد آور شد: به رغم اينکه سطح تحصيلات زنان ايراني در مقايسه با سال هاي گذشته از رشد چشمگيري برخوردار بوده ولي ما هم اکنون شاهديم که شرايط بازار کار ايران براي زنان در مقايسه با مردان از موقعيت مطلوبي برخوردار نيست.
او با بيان اين که 50 درصد از نيروي کار دنيا را زنان تشکيل مي دهند، خاطرنشان ساخت: در حال حاضر رشد اقتصادي و اجتماعي يکي از عوامل اصلي حضور زنان براي شرکت در فعاليت‌هاي اجتماعي است. (ايلنا – 20/9/90)
