Human Rights and Democracy Activists in Iran

According to reports, after international protests, a number of the Mourning Mothers' supporters were allowed visits with their families after one month.
On Thursday March 11, the families of these women visited them in prison. These women were in high spirits and objected the fact that they were arrested illegally and held in inhumane conditions and constantly announced their objection. Interrogators were trying to make their arrest seem legitimate by making false charges against them in order to break them.
These women were kept in intolerable conditions in their incarceration in section 209 in Evin Prison. They were constantly interrogated in the night and for long periods of time, where they were subjected to severe psychological torture. The interrogators made false accusations against them to scare them and break their morale.
One of the most vulgar forms of torture is prying into these political prisoners' personal lives. The interrogators constantly put some of them under pressure demanding that they separate from their fiancés or to sever all their communications with them. Interrogators persist on getting written pledges on this issue.
