Mehdi who killed his wife was condemned to Qisas (loosely translated as eye for an eye) by hanging after the judges’ consultation based on his remarks. After the convict protested the decree it was sent to the country’s Supreme Court and was endorsed by the judges of the court’s branch 13.
According to this report if Mehdi fails to acquire the consent of the victim’s parents or of her next of kin, he will be soon executed. (Khorasan daily 25 July 2013)

مردي که همسرش را کشته بود با تاييد حکم قصاص در ديوانعالي کشور در آستانه چوبه دار قرار گرفت. در پي اظهارات متهم قضات وارد شور شدند و مهدي را مجرم شناختند و او را به قصاص با طناب دار محکوم کردند. اين راي با اعتراض متهم به ديوانعالي کشور فرستاده شد و در نهايت با تاييد قضات شعبه 13 ديوانعالي کشور حکم قصاص نهايي شد. بنابر اين گزارش در صورتي که مهدي نتواند رضايت اولياي دم را جلب کند به زودي مجازات خواهد شد. Larijani sanctions violation of human rights in Iran

“Unfortunately now a days westerners use human rights in their publicity and media as a tool against the countries which are not aligned with their policies,” stated Ayatollah Amoli Larijani among the members of the Judiciary’s human rights headquarter.
Pointing to the declaration of human rights, Larijani indicated that the great challenge of the declaration is its superficial interpretation of ‘human dignity’ which shows philosophical and theoretical incoherence in western concept of human rights and added: “Under the name of human rights, westerners are imposing serious cruelty and injustice on many nations but they mirror untrue facts in their reports on human rights. The western countries protest against our measures regarding dangerous and armed villains while they cannot tolerate such criminals themselves.” (Mehr news agency 23 July 2013)

Disciplinary force launches the third stage

The third stage of the plan for confronting hooligans and disrupters of order and security throughout the capital began since this morning.
This stage was carried out in some Tehran’s areas in cooperation with security police, the first aid unit and precaution police. (Mehr news agency 23 July 2013)

97 arrested during nightly raids by security forces
“The capital’s police carried out the plan for confronting hooligans and thugs especially at the western, central and southwestern areas throughout last night and this morning. Security police and precaution police also participated in the operation.
The forces arrested 97 hooligans, thugs and bullies,” stated Hossein Sajedinia on Tuesday at the presence of some reporters. He added: “These individuals will be presented to judiciary centers after being interrogated today.” (Mehr news agency 23 July 2013)

سردار حسين ساجدي‌نيا روز سه‌شنبه در جمع خبرنگاران با اشاره به اجراي مرحله سوم طرح برخورد با اراذل و اوباش اظهار داشت: پليس پايتخت شب گذشته و بامداد امروز طرح برخورد با اراذل و اوباش را با عمليات پليس امنيت و پليس پيشگيري در پايتخت به ويژه غرب، مرکز و جنوب غرب اجرا کرد و موفق شد 97 نفر از اراذل و اوباش و سارقان زورگير را دستگير کند.وي ادامه داد: اين افراد امروز پس از بازجويي به مراکز قضايي معرفي مي شوند

Execution in Khoram Abad

“The drug dealer was hanged yesterday at Khoram Abad Parsiloon Prison (western Iran) at the presence of the case’s judge,” stated Lorestan Province’s SSF commander Alizadeh.
According to Alizadeh this drug dealer was arrested on 19 February 2013; his death sentence was issued at branch one of Boroojerd’s prosecutors office and was approved by the country’s Supreme Court. (Central News Unit 21 July 2013)

فرمانده انتظامي لرستان گفت: حکم اعدام قاچاقچي مواد مخدر ديروز با حضور قاضي پرونده در زندان پارسيلون خرم آباد اجرا شد.
به گفته سردار عليزاده اين قاچاقچي دريکم اسفند سال 91 دستگير شد و با صدور راي حکم اعدام اين متهم درشعبه يک دادگستري بروجرد وتاييد آن در ديوان عالي کشور، اجراشد. (واحد مركزي خبر 30/4/92)

Dervish prisoners condemned to 8 years of hard labor

Dervish prisoners condemned to 8 years of hard labor prison term and 12 years of exile on the whole by Shiraz Revolution Court

The sentences of 4 Gonabadi Dervish inmates are issued by branch 2 of Shiraz Revolution Court condemning them to 8 years of hard labor prison term and 12 years of exile on the whole.
These four Dervishes are charged with being a member of a dissident group (Majzooban-e Noor) having the intention of disrupting the country’s security and propagating against the Islamic Republic establishment.
According to these charges the decrees issued by Judge Yazdanian are as follows:
• Saleh Moradi Sarvestani: Three years of hard labor prison term, three years of exile to Hormozgan Province (southern Iran)
• Farzaneh Noori: Two years of hard labor prison term, three years of exile to Khozestan Province
• Behzad Noori: Two years of hard labor prison term, three years of exile to Boshehr Province
• Farzad Darvish: One years of hard labor prison term, three years of exile to Sistan and Baluchistan Province
Protesting the issued decrees, the Dervishes’ lawyers announced these decrees are completely illegal and they will present their protest in a defensive bill to the revision branch. (Majzooban-e Noor Website 21 July 2013)



محكوميت دراويش در دادگاه انقلاب شيراز به مجموع ۸ سال حبس تعزيري و ۱۲ سال تبعيد
احکام محکوميت ۴ تن از دراويش گنابادي از سوي شعبه ۲ دادگاه انقلاب شيراز صادر و در مجموع اين دراويش به مجموع ۸سال حبس تعزيري و ۱۲ سال تبعيد محکوم شدند.
اتهامات اين چهار درويش گنابادي عضويت در گروهک مخالف نظام (گروه مجذوبان نور) با هدف بر هم زدن امنيت کشور، تبليغ عليه نظام جمهوري اسلامي اعلام شده است و بر اساس اين اتهامات، حکمي که توسط قاضي يزدانيان صادر شده به اين شرح مي‌باشد:

صالح الدين مرادي سروستاني: ۳ سال حبس تعزيري - سه سال تبعيد به استان هرمزگان
فرزانه نوري: ۲ سال حبس تعزيري - سه سال تبعيد به استان خوزستان
بهزاد نوري: ۲ سال حبس تعزيري - سه سال تبعيد به استان بوشهر
فرزاد درويش: يک سال حبس تعزيري - سه سال تبعيد به استان سيستان و بلوچستان
وکلاي اين دراويش گنابادي با اعتراض به احکام صادر شده، اعلام داشتند که اين احکام صادر شده هيچ وجه قانوني و قضايي نداشته و اعتراض خود را به اين احکام با ارائه‌ي لايحه‌ي دفاعيه به شعبه‌ي تجديد نظر اعلام خواهند کرد.

Concerns about conditions of journalist Faribah Pazhouh

Journalist Faribah Pazhouh was arrested for the second time on Wednesday July 10th in her residence by security agents and was transferred to ward 209 of Evin Prison.
“She is suffering again from nervous breakdowns inflicted on her during her last detention in 2009, when she was in custody for 124 days,” said someone close to her.
According to reports Fariba doesn’t have access to any of her medication.
Her specialist indicated that nervous breakdowns are a serious hazard to her health. (Zamaneh Radio 20 July 2013)

“نگراني” درباره وضعيت فريبا پژوه، روزنامه‌نگار زنداني
يکي از نزديکان فريبا پژوه، روزنامه‌نگاري که هفته گذشته بازداشت شد، گفته است: حملات عصبي اين روزنامه‌نگار که ناشي از شرايط سخت بازداشت ۱۲۴ روزه او در سال ۸۸ بوده، مجدداً شروع شده است. بنا به اين گزارش, اين روزنامه‌نگار زنداني در حال حاضر به هيچ کدام از داروهايش دسترسي ندارد و به گفته پزشک متخصص, حملات عصبي تهديد جدي براي سلامت او بوجود مي آورد. فريبا پژوه چهارشنبه ۱۹تيرماه توسط ماموران امنيتي در منزل شخصي‌اش بازداشت و به بند ۲۰۹ زندان اوين منتقل شد. Six political prisoners returned back to public ward
Political prisoners from ward 350, Siamak Qaderi, Amir Khosro Dalir Sani, Hootan Dolati, Nader Babaie, Mohammad Ibrahimi and Saeed Matin Poor, who have been transferred to solitary confinement of ward 240 on July 17th after their protest against the exile of Ali Nazeri to Zabol Prison on a stretcher, were returned to public ward 350 in the afternoon of Saturday July 20th.
The inmates of ward 350, seeing the poor condition of Mr. Nazeri were outraged and launched a protest during which they chanted slogans including ‘death to dictator’. (Zamaneh Raidio 21 July 2013)


شش زنداني سياسي از انفرادي به بند عمومي منتقل شدند
سيامک قادري، اميرخسرو دليرثاني، هوتن دولتي، نادر بابايي، محمد ابراهيمي و سعيد متين پور از زندانيان سياسي بند ۳۵۰ اوين, که روز چهارشنبه ۲۶ تير به سلول‌هاي انفرادي بند ۲۴۰ منتقل شده بودند، شامگاه شنبه ۲۹ تير به بند ۳۵۰ بازگشتند.
اعزام به انفرادي اين شش زنداني سياسي از سوي مسئولان زندان اوين پس از آن صورت گرفت که يک روز قبل از آن بند ۳۵۰ شاهد اعتراض گسترده به تبعيد علي ناظري به زندان زابل بود. بر پايه اين گزارش وضع نامناسب جسمي و انتقال اين زنداني سياسي بر روي برانکارد هنگام تبعيد, خشم زندانيان بند ۳۵۰ را در پي داشت و آن‌ها با سردادن سرود و شعارهايي از جمله مرگ بر ديکتاتور, به اين اقدام اعتراض کردند. SUDAN - CALL TO END VIOLENT ATTACKS AGAINST DARFUR FEMALE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS

 6 men wearing women Jilbab and face veiled, entered the girls dorm in Khartoum University, and attacked the Darfuri female students in the dorm. “They were shouting ( ALLAH Akbar= God is the Greatest), and they were carrying big knives, they just started beating us, Iman a first year lost her finger, when one of the attackers injured her hand with his big knife, and during the fight they manger to unveil them” said (A-S) one of the dorm girls, she continued describing that horrific night saying “ Asmaa , a first year student also in Khartoum University, severely injured in her hand, also while she was fighting with the attackers armed by knives. We couldn’t sleep that night and we kept awake until our colleagues came back from hospital”.

The Darfuri female student struggle started on November 26^th, when they protested the denial of free registration and the tuition waiver in the university and the dorms by the Khartoum University administration. And when the administration refused all their appeals and denied the fresh students from entering the dorms ad the university for free the Female students decided to take to the street. The free registration and the tuition waiver for Darfuri students is one of the rare accomplishments of the peace agreement between Darfur rebels groups and the Sudanese government. Darfur region is witnessing conflict since 2002 ,  where at least 200 thousands peoples died and 2 million are living in IDPs camps, which led to the indication of the Sudanese Omar Albashir of war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide by the international Criminal court.

INCREASE IN GLOBAL CHILD TRAFFICKING GIVES CAUSE FOR CONCERN

(UNODC) - The 2012 Global Report on Trafficking in Persons released today by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has revealed that 27 per cent of all victims of human trafficking officially detected globally between 2007 and 2010 are children, up 7 per cent from the period 2003 to 2006.

Mohammad Reza Pourshajari suffered heart attack in Karaj Central prison

Committee of Human Rights Reporters – Blogger and political activist Mohammad Reza Pourshajari suffered a heart attack on February 17 and was transferred to the infirmary at Karaj Central prison.

According to news provided to CHRR, three physicians at the prison facility by the names of Amjadi, Nejadbahram and Gholizadeh made requests for this political prisoner to be transferred to a medical facility outside the prison. They revealed that the prisoner has blocked arteries, which could result in cardiac arrest and his sudden death.

8 Prisoners Among Them One Woman Hanged in Shiraz Today- Executions Carried Out One Day Prior To The Scheduled Date

Iran Human Rights, February 19, 2013: Eight prisoners were hanged in the Adelabad prison of Shiraz early this morning. According to the official website of the Iranian judiciary in the Fars Province, 8 prisoners among them one woman were hanged this morning. The prisoners were all convicted of drug related charges said the report.

The prisoners were identified as "Lotfollah J.", "Noor Mohammad Sh.", "Abbas N.", "Hossein A.", "Parinaz M." (woman), "Hamid A.", "Abdolvahed M." and "Ali T."

URGENT: 12 Prisoners Scheduled for Hanging in One Day- - IHR Urges International Community to Stop the Executions

Iran Human Rights, February 18: According to reports from reliable sources in Iran, 12 prisoners are scheduled to be executed in Shiraz Prison (south of Iran) on Wednesday, February 20, 2013. According to the same sources, the prisoners have been sentenced to death for drug-related charges.

On Saturday and Sunday, four prisoners were hanged in public in Shiraz.
Iran Human Rights (IHR) urges the international community to help stop these executions. Based on cases IHR has received, most prisoners convicted of drug-related charges in Iran have confessed under torture and been subjected to unfair trials. More specifically, IHR urges the United Nations and all countries cooperating with Iran on the "war on drugs" to do what they can to stop these executions.

Iran Supreme Court upholds 4 death sentences in $2.6 billion fraud case

TEHRAN, Iran — Iran’s state prosecutor says the country’s Supreme Court has upheld death sentences against four people linked to a $2.6 billion bank fraud described as the biggest financial swindle in Iran’s history.

Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejehei says the four were convicted of being “corrupt on earth” for “disrupting” the country’s economy. He says the court has ordered the verdict to be carried out but no date has been set.

Ejehei is quoted by the official IRNA news agency as saying that two banking officials have been sentenced to life in prison while 19 others, almost all of them senior government officials, were given prison terms ranging from 2 to 20 years.
Their trial last year raised questions about corruption at senior levels in Iran’s tightly controlled economy.

Iran Human Rights, February 17, 2013: Seven prisoners were hanged in the cities of Arak and Shiraz according to the official Iranian sources.

Three prisoners hanged in Arak (Central Iran):

According to the official Iranian news agency IRNA three prisoners were hanged in the prison of Arak early Sunday morning February 17. The prisoners were identified as "A.B." (31) convicted of buying and possession of 1370 grams of Shisheh, "M. S." (26) convicted of possession of 1500 grams of heroin, and "A. F." (47) convicted of possession of 1382 grams of opium, 450 grams of shisheh and 390 grams of heroin, said the report.

C. Women‟s rights

54. Moreover, the application of certain laws that erect barriers to gender equality undermine the Government‟s ability to equally protect those human rights stipulated in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights for all its citizens. For example, a woman‟s worth and testimony in a court of law are regarded as half that of a man‟s. Men have absolute rights to divorce, while women may initiate divorce
only if they meet certain conditions, some of which must be agreed to in a marriage contract. Mothers can never be awarded guardianship rights for their children, even upon the death of their husbands. Women do not have equitable inheritance rights, and even when a wife is the sole survivor to her husband‟s estate, she may not inherit more than a quarter of the estate. If she is not the sole survivor, she is limited to an eighth.
56. Moreover, strict implementation of the morality code concerning dress and attempts to criminalize improper veils have limited women‟s participation in public and social arenas. Equally worrisome are statements made by authorities that blame victims for inducing attackers to violate their physical integrity. These include reports of Government officials citing women‟s dress as the cause of recent attacks that took place in Isfahan in June 2011, where 14 women were kidnapped and gangraped while attending a private party. Government statements asserted that the women‟s dress was a source of the violence perpetrated against them and a rationale for the lack of action in bringing the perpetrators to justice
