Iran sentences political prisoner to 10 years of prison for ‘espionage’

The Zahedan Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor said that Mohammad Ismail Mullazehi was sentenced to 10 years of prison on charges of ‘espionage with the intention of acting against national security’.
“Mohammad Ismail Mullazehi known as Abu Jan, who is the son of Mohammad Islam, was arrested on October 25, 2010 in Zahedan on charges of espionage and his case was referred to the Revolutionary Court on February 14, 2011”, Mohammad Marzieh said.
“His main charge was having communications with the embassy of a country, presenting various information to the intelligence elements in the embassy, having commutations with intelligence elements in Dubai and using code words for his messages”, he added.
“This person also followed up the cases of the criminals from that country arrested in Iran and put in a great effort for their release”…
Marzieh said that because he did not have any previous criminal or security records and had requested amnesty, four years of his sentences was suspended for five years.
“The vote of the Revolutionary Court was upheld in the first branch of the court of review and this criminal is currently serving his six year prison term”. (Asre Iran state-run website – Sep. 5, 2011)
Iran’s judiciary spokesman promises crackdown against peaceful gatherings of Orumieh environmentalists

[During a news conference] a reporter asked Mohseni Ejeyi, the spokesperson of the Judiciary, if the news on the gatherings in Orumieh and the arrest of a number of people was true.

The Noshahr mayor has announced gender segregation for female and male employees in all of this town’s offices.

Iranian greens fear disaster as Lake Orumieh shrinks

The fate of a shrinking salt lake is the last thing you would expect football fans to chant about - but Iranians are doing all they can to stop a looming ecological disaster.
Lake Orumieh in north-west Iran, one of the world’s largest salt lakes and a Unesco biosphere reserve, is disappearing due to drought and government mismanagement, and has become a major cause of concern for environmental activists and ordinary people in the Islamic republic.
Thousands of Iranians from Tabriz and Orumieh, two cities in Iran`s Azerbaijan region, have come out on streets over the past few weeks in protest at the government`s failure to protect the lake, which has already lost half of its surface in recent years. Lake Orumieh is situated at the heart of the region, home to the country`s Azeri ethnic minority, whose activists claim they have been marginalised in recent years.
On Saturday security forces on motorcycles in Tabriz and Orumieh clashed with thousands of protesters who gathered in scattered groups raising alarms over the lake`s disappearance. Experts have said the salt lake, crucial to agriculture and tourism, could dry out completely in the next few years.
Amateur videos posted on YouTube and social networking websites, believed to have been taken from Saturday`s events, show riot police attacking what appears to be a peaceful protest.
Opposition websites said riot forces wielded batons and used teargas and plastic bullets to disperse protesters who were chanting 'Lake Orumieh is thirsty'. Scores of protesters, including several environmental activists, have been arrested. The committee of human rights reporters in Iran reported on Monday that Farank Farid, a prominent women`s rights activist, was among the protesters currently held in custody.
A website affiliated to South Azerbaijan`s student movement claimed that protesters were injured in clashes with security forces. The association for defence of Azerbaijani political prisoners in Iran reported that eyewitnesses said at least one person was killed.
‘According to the eyewitnesses, a protester was killed by the Iranian riot police in Tarbiat Street of the city of Tabriz. The body was immediately removed by the security forces, ’ADAPP said. The association reported protesters were chanting 'Lake Orumieh is dying! Iran is issuing its execution', 'Long live Azerbaijan.’
Protesters blame the gradual drying of the salt lake on the government and its policies of damming rivers, but officials say drought and global warming has caused the disaster…
Unable to stage street protests freely, Iranians have exploited every opportunity to voice alarm over the lake`s fate. Football fans have chanted slogans in relation to the salt lake in stadiums since April. Activists are planning to stage another protest on Friday during a football match in Tehran`s Azadi stadium, which holds up to 100،000 people.

Iran is trying to put down a new wave of civil disobedience - flash mobs of young people who break into boisterous fights with water guns in public parks.
A group of water fighters was arrested over the weekend,and a top judiciary official warned Monday that 'counter-revolutionaries' were behind them.
Police swooped in to arrest a number of people who had gathered on Friday in a Tehran park to hold a water fight, the acting commander of Iran`s police Gen. Ahmad Radan said, quoted in newspapers on Monday.
Radan said the group had been planning the water fight through the Internet and had 'intended to break customs’.
He vowed police would act to prevent future attempts and that participants on trial.
Throughout the summer, Iranian police have been cracking down. In the first incident, in July, hundreds of young men and women held a water fight in Tehran`s popular Water and Fire Park, spraying each other with water guns and splattering bottles of water on one another.
Police detained dozens of those involved. Since then, police have arrested dozens more involved in similar water fights in parks in major cities around the country.
Hard-liners see the water fights as unseemly and immoral, breaking taboos against men and women simply mixing, much less dousing each other with water and playing in the streets.
But authorities see a darker hand as well, worrying that the gatherings could weaken adherence among young people to Iran`s cleric-led Islamic rule or even build into outright protests against Iran`s the regime.
Iran`s leadership has been very wary of any gathering, whatever their nature, since the massive protests against the 2009 re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The anti-regime uprisings that spread around the Arab world this year only add to the leadership`s worries of any sign of 'people power’.
On Monday, the spokesman of the judiciary, Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejehi, accused unnamed foreign hands of organizing the water gun campaign. 'This is not simply a game with water.
This act is being guided from abroad,’ he said. Some of those detained Friday have admitted 'they were deceived،and some said they came out based on a call from a counterrevolutionary,' he said, quoted in the conservative news web site Tabnak.
State TV has aired statements by some arrested in previous water fight crackdowns,admitting they were motivated by 'foreign invitations’.
Some confessed they were given water guns to use. Most detainees were released afterward.
Many of the water fights are organized through calls on Facebook, which is banned in Iran though Iranian frequently access it through proxies. Most of the Facebook pages are not expressly political - but they express the sort of secular youth culture of Iranians unhappy with the country`s Islamic rule. Friday`s water fight had been planned to be held in Tehran`s Water and Fire Park, named for its numerous fountains and light shows.

Gender segregation in Alameh Tabatabayi University

Ninety percent of the classes in the postgraduate level in the Social Sciences and Communications departments in the Alameh Tabatabayi University have been sexually segregated. Students who went to the university to choose their courses were given two separate lists for women and men.
These students expressed concern over this segregation and said that the segregation was implemented in special courses of programming in the Social Sciences and Communications Departments. Among the 51 courses in the social programming fields and Social Sciences Communication and Intelligence Technology Observations, 46 courses are segregated and only 5 courses are held with both male and female students. 10 سال زندان براي يك متهم به جاسوسي در زاهدان

دادستان عمومي و انقلاب زاهدان گفت: 'محمد اسماعيل ملازهي' به اتهام جاسوسي به قصد اقدام عليه امنيت ملي كشور به 10 سال حبس محكوم شد.
به گزارش ايرنا 'محمد مرزيه' افزود: محمد اسماعيل ملازهي معروف به 'ابوجان' فرزند محمد اسلام به اتهام جاسوسي، سوم آبان ماه سال 89 در زاهدان دستگير و پرونده وي با صدور قرار مجرميت و كيفرخواست 25 بهمن ماه 89 به دادگاه انقلاب ارسال شد.
وي ادامه داد: اتهام اصلي اين فرد مجرم ارتباط با سفارتخانه يكي از كشورها، ارايه اطلاعات مختلف به عناصر اطلاعاتي در آن سفارتخانه و برقراري ارتباط با عناصر اطلاعاتي در 'دبي' و استفاده از كلمات رمز براي پيامهاي ارسالي بود.
دادستان عمومي و انقلاب زاهدان گفت: اين فرد همچنين پرونده افراد مجرم آن كشور را كه در ايران دستگير شده بودند، پيگيري و تلاش زيادي براي آزادي آنان مي كرد...
مرزيه ادامه داد: با توجه به اينكه سابقه مجرميت و محكوميت امنيتي نداشت و در خواست عفو و بخشش كرده بود، مورد رافت نظام قرار گرفت و چهار سال از محكوميت وي به مدت پنج سال به حالت تعليق در آمده است.
دادستان انقلاب زاهدان گفت: راي دادگاه انقلاب در شعبه اول دادگاه تجديد نظر به قطعيت رسيده و اين مجرم اكنون در حال گذراندن شش سال محكوميت باقي مانده از حكم صادره است. (عصر ايران – 14/6/90)

کميته گزارشگران حقوقبشر در ايران روز دوشنبه گزارش کرد که فرانک فريد (farank farid)، يک فعال برجسته حقوقبشر در ميان تظاهرکنندگاني بود که اخيراً بازداشت شد.
يک وب سايت وابسته به جنبش دانشجوي آذربايجان جنوبي ادعا کرد که تظاهرکنندگان در درگيريها با نيروهاي امنيتي زخميشدند.
انجمن دفاع از زندانيان سياسي آذربايجان در ايران گزارش کرد که شاهدان گفتهاند حداقل يک نفر کشته شده است.
اداپ (adapp) [انجمن دفاع از زندانيان سياسي آذربايجان] گفت، “به گفته شاهدان عيني، يک تظاهرکننده توسط پليس ضدشورش ايران در خيابان تربيت تبريز به قتل رسيده و جسد وي سريعاً از محل جابهجا گرديده است. انجمن مزبور گزارش کرد که تظاهرکنندگان شعار ميدادند، “درياچه اروميه دارد ميمرد! ايران حکم اعدام صادر ميکند“، “زنده باد آذربايجان“.

جنگ تفنگ آبپاش در پارک؟ ايران طرحهاي تيرهيي را مشاهده ميکند
تهران - ايران سعي دارد موجي از نافرماني مدني – جمعيت انبوهي از جوانان که مشغول جنگ پرشور با تفنگ آبپاش در پارکهاي عمومي بودند- را فرو بنشانند.
گروهي از جنگجويان با تفنگ آبپاش در آخر هفته دستگير شدند. يک مقام ارشد قضايي روز دوشنبه هشدار داد که ”ضد انقلابيون“ پشت آنها قرار دارد.
روزنامهها روز دوشنبه از ژنرال احمد رادان معاون فرمانده پليس تهران پليس نقل و قول کردند که گفته است، پليس براي دستگيري تعدادي که روز جمعه در پارک تهران جمع شده و آب بازي راه انداخته بودند وارد عمل شد…
پليس ايران در تمام طول تابستان مشغول سرکوب بوده است…
تندروها، اين آب بازيها را از بابت شکسته شدن تابوي قاطي شدن مردان و زنان، ناشايست و غيراخلاقي ميدانند، نه بهخاطر خيس کردن يکديگر با آب و بازيکردن در خيابانها.
ولي مقامات وجه تيرهتري را نيز ميبينند. و نگران هستند که اين تجمعات، تبعيت جوانان از حکومت اسلامي تحت هدايت روحانيون در ايران را تضعيف نمايد يا حتي به اعتراضات علني عليه رژيم تهران بيانجآمد .
رهبري ايران از هنگام اعتراضهاي مردمي عليه انتخاب مجدد رئيسجمهور محمود احمدينژاد در سال 2009، نسبت به هر تجمعي، صرفنظر از ماهيت آن، بسيار هشيار بوده است.
قيامهاي ضد رژيم، که امسال به سراسر جهان عرب گسترش يافتند، تنها به نگراني رهبري نسبت به هرگونه علامتي از ”قدرت مردم“ ميافزايد.
روز دوشنبه، غلامحسين محسني اژهاي سخنگوي قوه قضاييه، عوامل ناشناس خارجي را به سازمان دادن اين آب بازيها متهم نمود. او گفت، ”اين تنها يک آب بازي نيست. اين اقدام از خارج هدايت ميشود“. …
تلويزيون دولتي اظهارات برخي دستگيرشدگان پيشين در سرکوب آب بازي را نشان داد که به تحريک شدن توسط ”دعوتهاي خارجي“ اعتراف کردند…
صفحات فيس بوک صراحتاً سياسي نيستند - - ولي آنها نوعي فرهنگ سکولار ايرانيان جوان ناراضي از حکومت اسلامي کشور را ابراز ميکنند. آب بازي روز جمعه قرار بود در پارک آب و آتش تهران برگزار شود.
ايران اغلب آمريکا و گروههاي اپوزيسيون ايراني در تبعيد را به تحريک فعاليت مخالفتجويانه در خاک خود متهم ميکند.
اعتراضهاي پس از انتخاب مجدد احمدينژاد، که به گفته مخالفين تقلبي بوده است، بزرگترين چالش در 30سال گذشته براي رژيم روحاني اسلامي ايران بودند.
ولي نيروهاي امنيتي موج اعتراضها را قوياً سرکوب کردند و از آن پس اپوزيسيون قادر به بازگشت به خيابانها نبوده است.
سرکوب آب بازي نشاندهنده هوشياري رهبري نسبت به هرگونه علامتي از احساسات ضد رژيمي است.
ولي حتي به عقيده برخي محافظه کاران که از حاميان قوي حکومت اسلامي هستند، دستگيري اين جوانان زياده روي بوده است.
محمدرضا زائري، يک روحاني محافظهکار اخيراً در يک برنامه تلويزيوني گفت، ”من وقتي ميبينم تعدادي بهخاطر آب بازي دستگير شدهاند احساس بدي دارم. آنهايي که از چنين بازداشتهايي حمايت ميکنند فکر ميکنند نظام اسلامي بهنحوي بسيار شکننده است“. … (خبرگزاري آسوشيتدپرس- 14/6/1390)
