In the first news conference of the spokesman of the judiciary, Mohsen Ejeyi answered questions from reporters.
The first question in this news conference was about the case of Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani and the spokesman of the judiciary was asked to give more explanations regarding this case and its current state. The reporter asking the question also said that the president said that the issue of stoning was never brought up in this case.
Mohsen Ejeyi stressed on the independence of judges in issuing sentences and said, “We will never back down from Islamic laws and divine values because of the pressure of those who are in the first place for violating human rights today and want us not to implement the law”…
“In the case of Mrs. Sakineh Mohammadi Ashtiani such a sentence (stoning) has been issued; but it has to go through its procedure. The preceding sentence for this lady is retribution because retribution is the right of the people. This case has to follow its procedures and I stress again that retribution (eye for an eye on charges of murder) comes before Had (stoning on charges of adultery)”.

براي سكينه آشتياني حكم سنگسار صادر شده است
به گزارش خبرنگار حقوقى خبرگزارى دانشجويان ايران (ايسنا)، در نخستين نشست خبرى سخنگوى قوهقضائيه در زمان رياست آيت‌الله آملى لاريجانى که پس از ۴۱۱روز، عصر امروز با حضور خبرنگاران برگزار شد، حجت‌الاسلام و المسلمين محسنى اژه‌اى رودرروى خبرنگاران قضايى قرار گرفت و به سوالات آنان پاسخ داد.
نخستين سؤال اين نشست خبرى در خصوص پرونده سکينه محمدى آشتيانى بود که از سخنگوى دستگاه قضايى توضيحات بيشتر در خصوص اينکه اين پرونده در چه مرحله‌اى قرار دارد، خواسته شد و خبرنگار مربوطه مطرح کرد که رئيس‌جمهور در رابطه با اين پرونده اظهار کرده که اصلاً بحث سنگسار مطرح نبوده است؟
محسنى اژه‌اى در پاسخ به اين سؤال با تأکيد بر اينکه قاضى در صدور حکم مستقل است، اظهار کرد: ما به هيچ وجه نسبت به قوانين اسلامى و ارزشهاى الهى که با جوسازى و فشارکسانى که امروز ناقضين حقوقبشر در رتبه اول هستند و مى‌خواهند که ما قانون را اجرا نکنيم، کوتاه نمى‌آييم...
وى تصريح کرد: در مورد خانم سکينه محمدى آشتيانى چنين حکمى صادر شده (سنگسار)؛ اما بايد مراحل خود را طى کند. اتهام مقدم بر حد اين خانم، اتهام قصاص او است زيرا قصاص حق‌الناس است. اين پرونده بايد مراحل خود را طى کند و باز هم تأکيد مى‌کنم که مقدم بر حد، قصاص است. (خبرگزارى ايسنا (رژيم) - 5/7/89
