Two Kurd political prisoners by the names of Ali Afshari and Mohammad Abdollahi were sentenced to death in a court in Orumieh on charges of acting against national security and waging war with God.
According to this report, political prisoner Ali Afshari was arrested on December 14, 2010 in Mahabad and was hospitalized because of the injuries he sustained upon his arrest. He was then transferred to the Orumieh Central Prison and was sentenced to death by the Orumieh Revolutionary Court on charges of waging war with God, acting against national security and cooperating with a Kurd party opposed to the Iranian regime. Mohammad Abdollahi who was sentenced to death before this was arrested last year in the town of Bukan and was sentenced to death in the Orumieh Revolutionary court on charges of acting against national security, waging war with God and cooperating with a Kurd party opposed to the Iranian regime.
With these two death sentences, currently 15 Kurd political prisoners are on death row in Iran.
