Political prisoner under pressure and in critical condition in Ahwaz prison

Journalist and human rights activist Abolfazl Abedini who was sentenced to 11 years of prison by the Revolutionary Court in Khuzestan is kept in unsuitable conditions in Karoun Prison in Ahwaz and is under severe pressure.
According to reports, Abedi is in poor mental health in cellblock 6 of this prison and his life is in danger because he is kept next to a number of dangerous criminals including addicts and armed robbers.
His is banned from having access to any kind of books or newspapers and his family have not been able to have in person visits with him since his transfer to this prison.
His lawyer, Mohammad Oliayi Fard is currently jailed himself in cellblock 350 in Evin Prison and Abedini’s family was therefore forced to get him another lawyer. Intelligence agents summoned and threatened his new lawyer as soon as they were informed of this issue and put pressure on him/her not accept the case.
Abolfazl Abedini was arrested in the middle of the night on March 2, 2010 in his home in Ramhormoz. His home was surrounded by security forces and he was severely beaten upon his arrest. This human rights activist was then transferred to cellblock 2A in Evin Prison.
Abedi, who is the former head of Public Relations for the Human Rights Activists in Iran, is suffering from severe heart problems and was under medication before his arrest. Doctors have warned that he is not to be kept in a closed space under stress and without access to his medicine for a prolonged amount of time.

شرايط وخيم ابوالفضل عابديني در زندان کارون اهواز
ابوالفضل عابديني، روزنامه نگار و فعال حقوق بشر، که توسط دادگاه انقلاب استان خوزستان به تحمل يازده سال حبس قطعي محکوم شد، در زندان کارون اهواز در شرايط نامطلوبي نگهداري شده و به شدت تحت فشار است.
بنا به اطلاع گزارشگران هرانا، ابوالفضل عابديني روزنامه نگار خوزستاني در بند 6 زندان کارون اهواز از شرايط روحي مساعدي برخوردار نيست و به علت همجواري با چند تن از زندانيان خطرناک منجمله معتادين و سارقين مسلح جانش در خطر است.
فشارها بر آقاي عابديني تا جايي است که دسترسي وي به هرگونه کتاب و روزنامه ممنوع است و خانواده ي وي از زمان انتقال ابوالفضل به زندان کارون اهواز موفق به ملاقات حضوري با وي نشدند.
آقاي محمد اوليايي فرد، وکيل مدافع ابوالفضل عابديني اکنون خود در بند 350 زندان اوين محبوس است و خانواده ي اين زنداني سياسي مجبور به تغيير وکيل شده اند و ماموران اطلاعاتي به محض اطلاع از اين موضوع به احضار و تهديد وکلاي جديد و فشار بر ايشان جهت عدم پذيرش وکالت آقاي عابديني روي آورده اند.
ابوالفضل عابديني نصر آخرين بار نيمه شب 11 اسفند ماه 1388، در پي سناريو سازي دستگاه امنيتي بر عليه فعالين حقوق بشر، در منزل مسکوني خود در رامهرمز با محاصره منزل و ضرب و شتم شديد دستگير و به انفرادي بند2 الف زندان اوين منتقل شد.
گفتني است اين مسئول سابق روابط عمومي مجموعه فعالان حقوق بشر در ايران، به شدت از ناراحتي قلبي رنج مي برد و پيش از بازداشت تحت درمان پزشک قرار داشت؛ پزشکان نسبت به قرار گرفتن طولاني مدت در در محيط بسته، استرس و عدم دسترسي به داروهايش هشدار داده اند. (هرانا – 4/4/89)
