The Armed Forces Judicial Organization’s statement indicates that two defendants accused of killing Mohsen Rouholamini, Amir Javadifar and Mohammad Kamrani in Kahrizak Detention center have been sentenced to death penalty. This organization also indicates that the investigations are currently being carried out about incidents happening last summer in the dormitory of University of Tehran and Sobhan residential complex.

Rahana’s reporter quotes the Organization’s public relations as saying “Victim’s families, a number of plaintiffs and their lawyers” were present at the court session.

This statement reads that: Upon completion of the trial and according to the investigations, the Forensic Medicine’s opinions and other documents related to this case, the court sentenced two defendants to imprisonment, temporary ban from service, monetary fine, lashing, paying Diyya (compensation) and death sentence (Qisas or retaliation) on charges of intentional beatings and assault leading to the death of deceased Amir Javadifar, Mohsen Rouholamini and Mohammad Kamrani. Also, 9 other defendants have been sentenced to imprisonment, paying Diyya, monetary fine, temporary ban of service, and lashing, depending on their charges. One of the defendants has been acquitted of charges as no verification was found to prove the crime commitment. The issued verdicts are not final and will be enforced upon completion of all the legal procedures.

This statement also mentioned the attack to the dormitories of University of Tehran in June 2009 and calls students as “rioters”. The statement claims that the police had entered the campus in order to “control the situaton and prohibit chaos and destruction of public facilities”. The statement continues that: “Meanwhile, a number of unauthorized individuals entered the dormitories section and involved in clashes with students. Unfortunately, some of them entered the student dormitories, beaten students and damaged the public belongings, University of Tehran dormitory buildings and students’ personal belongings.”

This statement also mentions that “Comprehensive Investigations” were carried out about the incident of University of Tehran dormitories and the attack to “Sobhan Residential Complex”. The Armed Forces Judicials Organiation claims it has “issued warrants” for over 60 people about this case, 33 of whom were known convicted and the rest were acquitted of arrest warrants. According to this statement, investigations are still carried out about this case.

The issued statement does not mention name or ranking of any of defendants and convicts. The aforementioned issues were discussed while according to a video footage aired earlier this year by BBC Persian news channel, police forces had beaten students. This validity of this footage was also confirmed by NAJA (Iranian Police) commander Esmaeil Ahmadi-Moghaddam.

Amir Javadifar, Mohsen Rouholamini and Mohammad Kamrani were three young post-election detainees who had passed away in Kahrizak Detention facility in Summer 2009 under beatings and torture.
