For My Uncle Sentenced to Death: A Letter dedicated to Javad Lari

Political prisoner Javid Lari is [sentenced to death and] charged with Moharebeh (waging war against God) and Mofsed Fel-arz (spreading corruption on Earth). His sentence was issued by branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court.

The first accusation against him was “acting against national security”, which Judge Salavati later changed to Moharebeh. He was consequently sentenced to “execution without the possibility of amnesty”.

On August 16, 2010, CHRR released a letter dedicated to Javad Lari written by his niece Golnar.



English translation of the letter:

For My Uncle Javad Lari Who is Sentenced to Death

Dedicated to my
Uncle Javad and his charming smile that we have not seen for a while now: even
the sun cannot dry out my tears.

“Javad Lari is considered a Mohareb and
Mofsed Fel-arz and he is sentenced to death without the possibility of amnesty.”

Is it a new tradition to block all paths to forgiveness? How can God be
involved in what you do? God does not exist in your sermons filled with threats
and intimidation. On what basis do you imprison servants of God? You are
drowning in blood, stop it!

When I hear his name I recall his mother
calling him, “Javad, Javad.” She wasn’t at ease until he answered, “Yes, dear?”

The broken heart of a mother whose source of happiness was her son’s
voice should be feared.

Do you draw the names of your victims out of a
hat and then label them Mohareb? But even this game of chance is more fair than
what you do. Who chose you as the punisher of those against God? Let us assume
that you really are the representative of God and responsible for punishing
enemies, do you actually think it is so easy to identify enemies? Fear the
faults of your ways!

It was 4:00am. We had just arrived from a long
trip. The journey had stripped us of all our strength and, he whom you call
“Mohareb”, began to cite his prayers right away. He did so with such passion
that I thought to myself perhaps if there were a few more people like him, the
world would make more sense. I was sure that Javad Lari was the safe keeper of
God’s religion, but the dear judge, whom since childhood I deemed as [the
representative of the country's justice system], called Javad Mohareb and
Mofsed. You are responsible for every second of his life that you so unfairly
take away. Do you not fear?

Fear the prayers of an innocent prisoner in
his cell!

How could he be a Mofsed when in all the years that he worked
in the bazaar he was always concerned the money that he made was halal (lawful)?
How could he be a Mofsed when, considering this materialistic world, he worries
about his children’s welfare from the corner of his cell?

Only you would
sentence a person twice.

Maybe after more than twenty years all the
lashings you gave out were not enough. For twenty years now mothers are weeping.
You used to murder without charge and now you issue charges as sentences behind
closed doors.

“…if any one slew a person – unless it be for murder or
for spreading mischief in the land – it would be as if he slew the whole people:
and if any one saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole

برای جواد لاری، زندانی محکوم به اعدام/ گلنارکليد واژه ها : زندانيان سياسي
کمیته گزارشگران حقوق بشر – جواد لاری، زندانی سیاسی ۵۵ ساله از سوی شعبه ۱۵ دادگاه انقلاب به اتهام محاربه و فساد فی الارض به اعدام محکوم شد.
دادگاه این زندانی سیاسی در تاریخ ۲۳ تیر ماه گذشته برگزار شده بود.
اتهام اولیه این زندانی سیاسی «اقدام علیه امنیت کشور» بوده ، که به تشخیص قاضی صلواتی رئیس شعبه ۱۵ دادگاه انقلاب، محارب شناخته شده و به «اعدام بدون امکان عفو» محکوم شده است.
آن‌چه در پی می‌آید دل‌نوشته‌ی یکی از نزدیکان این زندانی سیاسی است:
تقدیم به عمو جواد و لبخند زیبایش که چند وقتیست جایشان خالیست و حتی خورشید برای اشک هایم کافی نیست!

راه بخشش را بستن رسم جدیدست؟ خدا را کجای اعمالتان بگذارم؟ حتی در نمازتان نمی توانم ببینم او را که خطبه اش همه تهدید و ارعاب است.
با چه معیاری در زندان می کنید بندگان خدا را؟
در خون غرق شده اید، بس کنید دیگر!
با شنیدن اسم او به یاد جواد گفتن های مادرش می افتم که تا او جانم نمی گفت آرام نمی شد.
بترسید از آه مادر زمینگیری که تنها دلخوشی اش شنیدن صدای پسرش است.
قرعه می اندازید برای محارب نامیدن بندگان خدا؟ قرعه منصفانه تر از روش شماست! چه زمان انتخاب شده اید برای مجازات مبارزان باخدا؟ اصلاٌ قبول که شما نماینده ی اویید و مجازات آن ها با شما! تشخیص جنگنده با خدا به این آسانیست؟! بترسید از اینکه راهتان را کج بروید!
ساعت چهار صبح بود و از سفری طولانی رسیده بودیم. خستگی راه تاب و توانمان را بریده بود و اویی که محارب می خوانیدش با چنان شوقی نماز می خواند که من فکر کردم اگر فقط چند نفر دیگر مثل او بودند، آفرینش انسان توجیه می شد. قبل از این که شما قاضی عزیز که از کودکی به من گفته اند عدالت ذاتی شماست او را محارب و مفسد بخوانی من یقین داشتم او آبرودار دین خداست.
هر ثانیه ی عمر او را که به ناحق گرفته اید مدیونتان می کند! نمی ترسید؟
بترسید از مناجات زندانی بی گناهی در سلولش!
او چه مفسدیست که با این همه سال در بازار بودن نگران ریال ریال حلال بودن پولش است؟
او چه مفسدیست که در سرزمینی که همه انبار میکنند نعمت دنیا را در گوشه ی سلولش غم نان فرزندانش مضطربش می کند؟
فقط شمایید که قصاص دوباره می کنید آدم ها را!
شاید بعد از بیست و اندی سال، تازیانه هایی را که زده اید کافی نمی دانید! بیست سال است مادران داغدار اشک می ریزند، آن زمان بی حکم کشتید و حالا پشت درهای بسته حکم می دهید!
