A human rights activist said in an interview with the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran that hundreds of prisoners have been hanged in secret mass executions in Vakil Abad Prison in Mashhad without the knowledge of their families or lawyers. According to this activist, there are 2,100 death row prisoners in this prison who are waiting to be executed in speedy, secret, mass executions.
After reports on the mass executions of prisoners in Vakil Abad Prison yesterday, a human rights activist said that in the past few weeks he has talked to the families of those who were executed and has obtained information on these executions in Vakil Abad Prison in Mashhad.
According to this human rights activist who asked not to be named for security reasons, in the past few months at least 300 prisoners who were mostly convicted of selling narcotics were executed in Vakil Abad prison and hundreds more are awaiting execution. According to this activist, most of those who were executed or are on death row have been charged in drug related cases and a small number have been sentenced to retribution (for murder).
“In Vakil Abad Prison in Mashhad, there are more than 2,100 convicts on death row and most of them are kept in various halls in cellblock 5 in this prison. Mass executions are carried out secretly in groups of 30 to 70 in cellblock 6.1 in this prison”, the activist said.
“These executions are reportedly carried out under the order and with the official announcement of Iran’s Attorney General Mohsen Ejeyi. In light of the pressure by human rights institutions, these executions are being carried out in secret in the prisons of towns (outside of Tehran)”, the source added.
This source also stressed that the prisoners and their families had absolutely no knowledge of the executions from before and said, “Even the prisoners did not know that their sentence was going to be carried out and only a few hours before the executions, they would be transferred from the cell under various excuses and would then be executed shortly after that without the knowledge of their families or lawyers… For example on April 8, 2010, 35 prisoners were secretly executed but official sources only announced the execution of 5 prisoners. In most cases, these mass secret executions are not reported in the official media”.
This human rights activist also said that at least 150 prisoners were secretly executed in the last 6 months of the Persian year of 1388 (from late September 2008 to late March 2010).
“In the last month, the numbers of executions have more than doubled and for example in the past couple of weeks between 60 to 70 people were secretly executed every Wednesday or Thursday”.
“Last Wednesday on August 18, 67 people were executed in cellblock 6.1 in Vakil Abad Prison and three weeks before that 70 others were executed in a mass execution”.
“The number of death row prisoners who are kept only in cellblock 5 in Vakil Abad are as follows:
Hall 101, Cellblock 5 – about 800 people
Hall 102, Cellblock 5 – more than 600 people
Hall 103, Cellblock 5 – more than 100 people
Hall 104, Cellblock 5 - more than 100 people”
He also said that this week and the weeks to come hundreds of prisoners are to be executed.
“These mass executions will be carried out regularly every Wednesday in the month of Ramadan in cellblock 6.1 which is run by the Intelligence Unit of the Vakil Abad Prison in Mashhad”, this activist said.

يک فعال حقوق بشر در مشهد در مصاحبه با کمپين بين المللي حقوق بشر درايران از اعدام هاي دسته جمعي و پنهاني صدها زنداني در زندان وکيل آباد مشهد بدون اطلاع خانواده ها ووکلاي آنها خبر داد. به گفته وي حدود ۲۱۰۰ محکوم به اعدام در اين زندان وجود دارند که در انتظار اعدام هاي سريع، پنهاني ودسته جمعي به سر مي برند.
به دنبال انتشارخبر اعدام هاي گسترده در زندان وکيل آباد که روز گذشته منتشر شد، يکي از فعالان حقوق بشر درشهرمشهد که طي هفته هاي گذشته با خانواده برخي اعدام شدگان ونيز زندانيان آزاد شده از اين زندان گفت وگو کرده و اطلاعاتي را درخصوص اعدام هاي ياد شده از زندان وکيل آباد مشهد کسب کرده است، جزييات بيشتري از اين اعدام ها را با کمپين بين المللي حقوق بشر در ميان گذاشت.
به گفته اين فعال حقوق بشر درشهرمشهد که به دلايل امنيتي خواست نامش فاش نشود، در چند ماه اخير دست کم ۳۰۰ زنداني که عمدتا متهم به فروش مواد مخدر بوده اند ، در زندان وکيل آباد مشهد اعدام شده اند و صدها تن ديگر در آستانه اعدام ميباشند. به گفته وي اکثر افراد اعدام شده و محکومان در صف اعدام از متهمان پرونده هاي مربوط به مواد مخدر و تعداد کمي نيز از محکومان به قصاص ميباشند.
اين فعال حقوق بشر با ذکرجزيياتي دراين خصوص گفت: « در زندان وکيل آباد مشهد بيشتر از۲۱۰۰ متهم محکوم به اعدام وجود دارند که بيشتر آنها در سالن هاي مختلف بند ۵ اين زندان نگهداري ميشوند. اعدام هاي دسته جمعه در دسته هاي ۳۰ تا ۷۰ نفره به صورت پنهاني و در بند ۶.۱ زندان وکيل آباد مشهد انجام ميگيرد.»
وي ادامه داد: » گفته ميشود اين اعدام ها با دستور و بخشنامه محسني اژه اي دادستان کل کشور صورت گرفته است. و با توجه به فشار نهاد هاي حقوق بشري به صورت پنهاني و در زندان هاي شهرستان ها صورت ميگيرد.»
اين منبع همچنين از بي خبري کامل زندانيان و خانواده آنها از اجراي حکم اعدام خبر داد: «حتي خود زنداني ها نيز از اجراي حکمشان بي خبر بوده اند و تنها چند ساعت قبل از اجراي اعدام زنداني ها را به بهانه هاي مختلف از بند خارج کرده و در فاصله کوتاهي بعد از آن و بدون اطلاع و حضور خانواده و وکلايشان اعدام کرده اند… به عنوان مثال در روز ۱۹ فرودين امسال ۳۵ زنداني به صورت پنهاني اعدام شده اند ولي منابع رسمي فقط از اعدام ۵ متهم خبر داده اند. در اکثر موارد اين اعدام هاي دسته جمعي و پنهاني هيچ اعدامي به صورت رسمي گزارش نميشود.»
اين فعال حقوق بشري از اعدام پنهاني دست کم ۱۵۰ زنداني در شش ماه پاياني سال گذشته خبر داد و افزود: ” در يک ماه اخير تعداد اعدام ها افزايش چندين برابري داشته است. و به عنوان نمونه در چند هفته اخير هر چهارشنبه يا پنجشنبه تعدادي بين ۶۰ تا ۷۰ نفر به صورت پنهاني اعدام شده اند.”
اين منبع همچنين افزود: ” تنها در چهارشنبه گذشته ۲۷ مرداد ماه ۶۷ نفر در بند ۶.۱ زندان وکيل آباد مشهد اعدام شده اند. و سه هفته قبل از آن هم در يک اعدام دسته جمعي ۷۰ تن اعدام شده بودند. آمار متهمان محکوم به اعدام فقط در بند ۵ زندان وکيل آباد به اين شرح است:
سالن ۱۰۱ بند ۵: حدود ۸۰۰ نفر
سالن ۱۰۲ بند ۵: بيش از ۶۰۰ نفر
سالن ۱۰۳ بند ۵: بيشتر از ۱۰۰ نفر
سالن ۱۰۴ بند : بيشتر از ۲۰۰ نفر
وي همچنين گفت: « در هفته جاري و هفته هاي آينده نيز صدها زنداني قرار است اعدام شوند. و اين اعدام هاي دسته جمعي و هفتگي دست کم به صورت منظم هر چهارشنبه ماه رمضان در بند ۶.۱ که متعلق به حفاظت اطلاعات زندان وکيل آباد مشهد است ، ادامه خواهد داشت .» (کمپين بين المللي حقوق بشر درايران - 3/6/89)
