In a speech at Semnan University on May 25, 2010, a university student criticized Safar Harandi, the former minister of Islmaic Guidance and Culture under Ahmadinejad.
The student began his speech by stating, “First I would like to greet you and other students. First of all, I would like to apologize that we couldn’t welcome you like the students of *Khajeh Nasir Toosi University did.”
(*Translator’s note: on November 1, 2009, Safar Harandi’s speech to Basij students at Khajeh Nasir Toosi University in Tehran was interrupted by student protestors. He was forced to leave the university)
The student then challenged Harandi’s definition of justice while highlighting the killings by regime forces in the street protests.
The student then asked Harandi to pay a visit to Kahrizak prison.
The act by the university student is a risky one since the regime has demonstrated zero tolerance to any criticism by its citizens.
