Female political prisoner sentenced to 15 years of prison

Maryam Akbari Monfared who was arrested in the events after the elections was sentenced to 15 years of prison in Gohardasht Prison in Karaj.
According to informed sources, Salavati, the judge presiding over the 15th branch of the Revolutionary Court told her that the sentence was issued ‘with observance of Islamic compassion’.
Akbari Monfared is the mother of three small children and is a homemaker. She was arrested in her home on December 31, 2009 after a raid by security forces. Monfared was charged with being a mohareb (at war with God) but has constantly denied these charges.
Several of her family members were political prisoners in the 80’s. She was kept in a solitary cell in cellblock 209 in Evin Prison until February 11 and despite being transferred to a public cellblock, is still jailed in Evin Prison without her detention order being renewed

مريم اکبري منفرد، از بازداشت‌شدگان وقايع پس از انتخابات، از سوي شعبه‌ ۱۵ دادگاه انقلاب، به ۱۵ سال حبس در زندان رجايي‌شهر محکوم شد.
به گزارش منابع آگاه، صلواتي، قاضي شعبه‌ ۱۵، زمان ابلاغ حکم به اين زنداني سياسي گفته که اين حکم با «رعايت رافت اسلامي صادر شده است.»
اکبري منفرد، سه فرزند خردسال دارد و خانه‌دار است. وي دهم دي‌ماه، طي يورش نيروهاي امنيتي به منزلش بازداشت شد. اين حکم به اتهام «محاربه» صادر شده، در حالي که اين زنداني سياسي بارها اتهامات وارده را رد کرده است.
مريم اکبري منفرد، که چند تن از اعضاي خانواده‌اش از زندانيان سياسي دهه شصت بوده‌اند، تا روز ۲۲ بهمن در سلول‌هاي انفرادي بند ۲۰۹ به سر برد و با وجود انتقال به بند عمومي، همچنان بدون تبديل تا تمديد قرار بازداشت در زندان اوين است. (كميته گزارشگران حقوق بشر – 11/3/89)
