Dire Psychological Condition Of A Prisoner And Lack Of Medical Aid In Evin Prison

Mohammad Hossein Sohrabi Rad Has Cut His Body Due to Severe Emotional Trauma in Evin Prison

HRANA – Prisoner’s Rights: A political prisoner detained in Evin Prison has cut his body due to relentless physical and psychological pressures which have caused him to suffer an emotional breakdown and rendered him incapable of handling detention.

The Prisoner’s unit of HRA reports that Mohammad Hossein Sohrabi, one of the activists from Mehdi Karroubi’s camp, who was arrested by the Intelligence Ministry in September on charges of working with the website of Saham News to produce a movie about the Kahrizak Detention Centre, is in a dire psychological condition.

Sohrabi Rad who was moved from Ward 209 to Ward 350 due to his emotional and psychological illness, cut himself in front of Bozorg Nia, head of Ward 350, in protest and was again sent to solitary confinement in Ward 240 as punishment.
This prisoner who has been medically certified as unable to bear prison conditions had gotten married shortly before his arrest and is the son of one of the martyrs of the eight year war. It should be noted that previously another prisoner from Ward 350 had expressed his concern about Sohrabi Rad’s condition in a letter to the Article 90 Commission.
